Who processes payments
Payments made on storefronts hosted by Nordkestrel are processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe is a registered Money Services Business in Canada (FINTRAC) and a licensed money transmitter in multiple US jurisdictions.
Nordkestrel is not a money transmitter. We never take custody of diner payments. Funds move directly from diner to the restaurant's connected Stripe account.
How payouts work
- Each restaurant connects its own Stripe account via Stripe Connect.
- Payment is charged to the diner; funds settle in the restaurant's Stripe balance.
- Stripe pays out to the restaurant's linked bank account on Stripe's standard payout schedule (typically 2 business days in Canada, 2–7 business days in the US, depending on account history).
- Nordkestrel does not withhold, delay, or reroute restaurant funds.
Fees
Stripe's processing fees
Stripe charges standard processing fees per transaction, published at stripe.com/pricing. These fees are deducted by Stripe before payout. Nordkestrel does not set or modify Stripe's fees.
Nordkestrel's fees
Nordkestrel charges a flat monthly subscription. We do not take a percentage of order revenue. See the pricing page.
Refunds and disputes
- Refunds are issued by the restaurant from the admin dashboard or directly via Stripe.
- Chargebacks and disputes are handled through the restaurant's Stripe account, following Stripe's dispute process.
- Nordkestrel does not mediate refund requests on behalf of diners.
Agreements you accept
When a restaurant connects a Stripe account through Nordkestrel, the restaurant also enters into:
- The Stripe Services Agreement, and
- The Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
These agreements govern the relationship between the restaurant and Stripe directly.
Data shared with Stripe
- At the time of payment — order total, currency, destination Stripe account, tax breakdown. Payment card data is collected and tokenized by Stripe Elements in the diner's browser.
- At account connection — business identity, tax ID, and beneficial-owner information required for Stripe's KYC and anti-money-laundering obligations.
See Stripe's Privacy Policy for how Stripe handles that data.
Sanctions and prohibited businesses
Certain categories of business are not eligible for Stripe payment processing. Before connecting a Stripe account, review Stripe's list of restricted businesses. Restaurants that fall within restricted categories may have their Stripe accounts paused or terminated by Stripe.
